Luis Scafati was born in Mendoza,Argentina in 1947.
He likes drawing since he was a child. He graduated at the Faculty of Plastic Arts of the Cuyo National University , specialized himself in sculpture.
At the age of 17 , his drawings started being published on a newspaper in his birth province. Then, he kept on publishing his work on humour magazines. After that , he started illustrating for the media , on newspapers such as Clarín , La Nacíon , Sur and Perfil , which count him as one of their collaborators.
Meanwhile , Scafati works on illustrating books for teenagers and kids . At present , there are already more than fifty titles illustrated by this artist. His illustrated books were published in Argentina , Spain , Mexico , Korea , Italy , Brazil , England , Czech Republic and Greece.
Among many other authors , Scafati illustrated books by Franz Kafka , Miguel de Cervantes , Edgar Allan Poe , Gogol , Jose Hernandez , Ricardo Piglia and Ray Bradbury.
His drawings and paintings were displayed at many museums and galleries in Argentina , Spain , Germany , Korea , and many other countries.
He obtained numerous awards and mentions and in 2003 was decorated as ilustrious citizen of Mendoza province , where he made a mural at the Independencia city theater.
The Argentinean artist lives and works currently in Buenos Aires.
